    As illustrated above, these Field 'leakage' electrons are impelled along radially-impinging electric field vectors (indicated in blue), and are self-acclerating toward the central collector sections along lines of electric field force on semicircular paths only in the y-axis (perpendicular to the plane of the Generator's rotor). The application of axial magnetic fields [as shown in green, which are created internally by wound armatures] causes acceleration of the Field current only in the x-axis, partially deflecting its trajectory parallel to the plane of the rotor and causing it to exhibit a rotational or vortexing aspect. The armatures' influence on the external Field current can be made variable (by regulating their line current) as a means of modulating the electromagnetic properties and behavior of the high-intensity plein air Field envelope.  

    A StarDrive (EDF) Generator is a little like a glorified arc welder whose output is deliberately shorted to its own casing, and the DC voltage and current across the emitter ring and collector housing sections can be thermionically elevated to lightning-like values – but the Field envelope current density is limited to a level that falls just short of damaging the hull!

In this case, a StarDrive vessel produces linear thrust simply from the physical impact of the Field envelope current electrons with the hull collector sections! [ref.: "the change in impulse equals the change in momentum", or ΔFt= Δmv]
 
   The 'Primary Arrays' seen in the schematic diagram below have control grids which allow an electrical resistance imbalance to be imparted to two otherwise-symmetrical opposed Field hemi-currents, thus they can make the two relativistic current impulses variably non-isometric:  yielding electric thrust that is essentially reactionless! ^Δ And, the StarDrive device's relatively simple DC "Primary Power System" is entirely disc-rotor-based, like the original Faraday disk dynamo . . .

   Of course, tremendous quantities of heat will be produced in the StarDrive device's electron "targets" or collector housing sections, and liquid sodium must be pumped through each Primary Array's ceramic resistor network as a coolant. However, this excess heat in smaller ground-based units may be used in the commercial generation of electric power and desalinization of seawater. In fact, because an electric discharge field has the unique capacity to absorb vast amounts of quantum background energy, the EDF Generator is so efficient that the latter task may become truly cost-effective for the first time!
