Unlimited new potential for our world exists in the patented 'StarDrive Generator' clean energy technology being developed by ARCHER ENERGY SYSTEMS, INC., which may soon be used for generating electric power on commercial and utility scales more efficiently and economically than virtually any other means known! Many alternative energy researchers and 'ZERO-POINT ENERGY' enthusiasts will be glad to learn that a 24kW prototype of this exotic non-nuclear over-unity electronic dynamo, for producing abundant, clean, and inexpensive electric power, is now being assembled using but a few diverse yet familiar late-20th-century technologies. [Click here for an excellent layman's Method of Operation Summary.]
the Electrodynamic Field Generator:
The official name of the StarDrive 'Electronic Dynamo', per the several issued U.S. and international Patents, is "Electrodynamic Field Generator". The EDF Generator uses banks of permanent magnets and rotating field coils to induce a very-high DC rotor voltage, and plane-parallel ring electrode arrays to electrostatically expand and control that voltage as applied to the housing, such that huge quantities of external Field envelope electrons will be self-accelerated to extreme energy levels around it. It's rather like a glorified arc welder whose output is deliberately shorted to its own casing, and the DC voltage and current across the emitter ring and collector housing sections can be thermoelectrically elevated to lightning-power levels, but the Field envelope current density is limited to values that fall short of damaging the casing materials!
'StarDrive' Generator housing & electrodynamic Δ Field configuration.
This technology ultimately yields a self-shielding ultra-high-voltage field effects propulsion system!
Δ An "electrodynamic field", as its name implies, is established by and within any flow of free electrons through a volume of space (i.e., open air or vacuum) outside of a normal physical conductor, between electrodes or circuit elements having a difference in potential (or voltage), for example as occurs in lightning or in any common fluorescent tube. Since charges in motion create a magnetic field, the electrodynamic field produced by the EDF Generator will of course also comprise and exhibit certain magnetic properties or effects.
Such a flow of current outside the resistive "sink" of a physical conductive material has certain unusual but well-known and useful properties as well, typically including a 'negative resistance' characteristic which can allow such an electrical discharge to carry a closed-circuit current far in excess of that ordinarily possible under Ohm's Law. Therein lies an essential design concept and advantage of the EDF Generator, as it relates to the efficiency with which the device may produce usable output power.
Electrons circulating in the external Field envelope (depicted in blue above) can reach impact velocities at the two central collector sections which are very nearly that of light. Vast quantities of heat may therefore be developed in the StarDrive device's collectors, and liquid sodium will be pumped through the "primary arrays'" ceramic resistor networks (below) in large-scale machines as a coolant. Of course, this "waste" heat may be used in the commercial generation of electricity and desalinization of seawater. In fact, because an intense electric discharge field has the capacity to absorb endless quantities of quantum background energy*, the EDF Generator is so efficient that the commercial desalination of seawater becomes truly cost-effective for the first time! And the simple DC Primary Power System, like the early Faraday disk dynamo, is entirely rotor-based...

*The EDF Generator is designed to take maximum advantage of every electron's inherent ability to absorb nearly any amount of ambient photonic EM energy and "zero point energy" (< virtual background electromagnetic vacuum fluctuations) as necessary to maintain its eternal steady-state spin, both in its ceaselessly self-mobile kinetic activity and in an engineered electrical circuit where untold numbers of electrons in a continuous vacuum field discharge may be artfully manipulated into doing vast quantities of recoverable work.
It would be hard to find a more cogent and satisfying explanation of this controversial 21st-century electrodynamic principle [which would validly account for the source of a StarDrive device's over-unity power output] than that recently published by Dr. Thomas Bearden who is one of the only inventors ever to verifiably demonstrate true over-unity operation of an all-electromagnetic device [the Motionless Electromagnetic Generator]. His superb technical paper "Source Charge, Van Flandern Waterfall, and Leyton Geometry", [Dec. 2, 2003] fully and clearly provides mostly in layman's terms the definitive answers as to why it must be possible to extract useful energy from the vacuum, perhaps by taking advantage of the properties of vacuum electrons themselves as motive fundamental charged particles.
< It is important to point out here that it's rather technically inaccurate to equate zero point energy with the enormous ground-state virtual energy of the quantum vacuum!^ For Tom Bearden's excellent memo which clarifies this and further explains how electrons may in fact continually "pump" virtual photons from the vacuum energy for conversion to real, observable, and thermodynamically useful EM energies, even in their properly-understood "zero-point energy state" click here.>
to read a recent letter from Dr. Bearden which superbly describes the essential difference between ZPE and vacuum energy, and discusses further how "a particle such as an electron can absorb ordered virtual energy from the disordered virtual-state vacuum, and integrate it to quantum size [resulting in real, observable, quantized change]", click here.
Moreover, reknowned theoretical physicist Grigori E. Volovik recently published a terrific academic paper titled "Vacuum Energy: Myths and Reality" (pdf; 24 pgs., 270kB), which makes an extremely strong case for a universal vacuum energy density that is neither zero nor unbelievably huge but is instead comparable to that of the "observed" dark energy! This highly plausible and refreshing viewpoint has enormous positive implications, of course, for certain advanced alternative energy technologies . . .

The successful first test firing of a prototype EDF Generator's "primary power system" (June, 2006), wherein can be seen a sustained stator input plasma discharge at ~300v in a rarified argon environment.
The intense electrodynamic field of force produced by the EDF Generator about its housing, between oppositely charged sections thereof, is actually an integral component of the device's output circuit! During the Generator's initial warm-up period, in which no electron current yet flows externally, the housing's two central collector sections are charged positively (by thermionic emission to the rotor) and the peripheral emitter-ring section is charged negatively (by the direct discharge of electrons from the rotor). At this point, the field between the oppositely-charged housing sections is simply 'electrostatic' in nature. Given sufficient charging, however, a point occurs at which huge numbers of electrons begin to continuously "leak" or drift across the field (from the negative to positive housing sections) and the field becomes 'electrodynamic'.

electrodynamic Field configuration, showing the crossed electric & magnetic force vectors which
will enable a StarDrive vessel's metric warp field generator capability at extreme relativistic velocity.
As illustrated above, these Field leakage electrons are impelled along radially-impinging electric field vectors (indicated in blue), and are self-acclerating toward the central collector sections along lines of electric field force on semicircular paths only in the y-axis (perpendicular to the plane of the Generator's rotor). The application of axial magnetic fields [as shown in green, which are created internally by wound armatures] causes acceleration of this Field current only in the x-axis, partially deflecting its trajectory parallel to the plane of the rotor and causing it to exhibit a rotational or vortexing aspect. The armatures' influence on the external Field current can be made variable (by regulating their line current) as a means of modulating the electromagnetic properties and behavior of the high-intensity plein air Field envelope.
Perhaps the greatest advantage the EDF Generator may have over almost any other over-unity device now known or proposed is that it is fundamentally linearly-scalable including the liquid sodium coolant system! We have designed large "Thermal Unit" plants that will produce electrical power continuously at 60 to 720 MW output levels, without requiring normal 'fuel' of any kind, yet their permanent magnet banks will never need to be remagnetized! The only operator input energy these unparalleled free energy devices will require during their entire in-service lifetime is that initially needed to bring the rotor up to speed (and the thermoelectric elements up to operating temperature) . . .**

>> In June of 2002, U.S. Patent 6,404,089 for the "Electrodynamic Field Generator" was issued to Mark Tomion, president of Archer Enterprises. To the best of our knowledge, this Patent is the first in the world for a truly all-electric power plant and you may click here to link to it. Regrettably, most of the equations provided at the close of the Description section, which define the classic "flying saucer" housing configuration that is so important to the device's proper operation, are virtually unrecognizable in the online American version.
Fortunately, the Europeans created a pdf copy for the EDF Generator's PCT (International) Patent Application that is photostatically identical to the original, and the math and drawings came through beautifully! The Detailed Calculations are shown on pages 7078, and the Table of Dimensions that describes the housing's shape in purely algebraic terms is on pgs. 7071. Exceeding the Efficiency Limit:
(i.e., using classical non-magnetic induction methods to circumvent both Ohm's Law and Lenz's Law.)
Although it seems almost too simple to have such profound consequences, the reason that only a very few engineers and inventors have ever succeeded in demonstrating true over-unity electric power production is that they nearly all seem bent on generating alternating current (AC)! And this is in light of the fact that it has been known for about 150 years that continuously changing electric current induces an opposed magnetic field which also changes in such a way that the efficiency of any coil-based AC generation methodology must tend to be self-limiting to less than 100% thermodynamically.
Nikola Tesla may have shown us that AC is a very efficient form in which to transmit electrical energy in our large physical distribution grids, but almost everyone since seems to have forgotten the simple fact that electric power can be more efficiently generated in the form of continuous (pure) direct current [DC]!! And that type of voltage output is characteristic of the original Faraday disk dynamo, with its rotating unwound armature and stationary permanent-magnet fields, which remains to this day one of the very best ways to generate this form of power. This can certainly now be said as well of the Electrodynamic Field Generator, or StarDrive device, as an exotic derivative of the Faraday induction dynamo whose proven efficiency readily approaches unity and which we have theoretically shown has inherent over-unity potential.
From this perspective, and even before considering the "electric leverage" phenomena associated with the device's stator plasma discharges, we at Archer Energy Systems, Inc. expect that the air-cooled 24kW StarDrive (EDF) Generator we're currently prototyping which is only 30" in diameter and may weigh under 50 lbs. will exhibit an extraordinary over-unity Coefficient of Performance for the following reasons:
(1) in a StarDrive Generator or Dynamo, DC current is induced to flow in the Field output circuit by means of static electric fields which impress a voltage directly across the conductive rotor segments, rather than by alternating magnetic fields which are usually linked to a ferromagnetic armature and/or stator. And, given the resultant capacitive-ring brushless isolation of the rotor's output current from the input circuit's induction rings, the magnitude of the device's DC output current is limited only by the rotor ampacity and the thermionic emission rate of its Primary Array cathodes and thus is electrochemically and temperature-dependent only (not mechanically and/or magnetically dependent);
(2) a load-proportional magnetic back-torque on the ceramic rotor is not continuously produced but only while the output current is increasing and otherwise the full-load input torque required is not significantly greater than that under open-circuit (no-load) operation! So, the equilibrium input torque at any given level of output is merely that required to overcome simple frictional losses, and in fact our current proof-of-concept experimentation has demonstrated the feasibility of a stationary armature variant...;
 |
(3) by carrying the entire output current on just a few radialinear rotor segments, even the tiny remaining inductive magnetic losses just described are minimized, in that the self-inductance of a straight conductor is lower than that of a closed-loop by a factor of π (pi). While only 32 such segments are used in our prototype 24kW StarDrive Generator, the self-inductance in any typical generator or electromagnetic coil is the product of hundreds or thousands of turns (or closed loops) of wire leading to Lenz losses which are correspondingly higher than those that will be evident in any EDF Generator; and
(4) yet most importantly, once the 24-kW no-load operating Field current is established through both power resistor networks, at a suitable AC inverter input voltage drop, power input to the 64 warm-up heaters may be entirely discontinued due to the equivalent "free" voltage-drop heating of the power resistors and their affixed thermionic cathodes: and then the only significant input power required is that drawn by the small DC rotor drive motor or stator voltage source in a stationary armature device.
"To thermionically effect the positive electrical charging of the collector housing sections, the power resistors and their attached electron-emissive primary cathodes must be raised to a certain very-high operating temperature, just like in any conventional television picture tube. This requires the input of a considerable amount of thermal energy by the operator.
"However, unlike the case in vacuum tubes, this thermal energy input may be wholly discontinued in the EDF Generator once a full constant flow of operating Field current has been established (externally), since voltage-drop heating of the power resistors and primary cathodes by that Field current will then produce a commensurate level of thermal energy within them. This will obviously effect a drastic reduction in the amount of input power the EDF Generator requires, and a corresponding substantial increase in its power output efficiency.
"High-intensity electrical discharges of the type that will occur across the device's peripheral vacuum chamber (internally) are well known to be "self-sustaining" once established a property called electric hysteresis in that they will remain ignited even if the applied voltage is reduced nearly to zero! Hence, if the internal vacuum chamber current is indeed self-sustaining (and therefore constant) in the EDF Generator's simple dual-series-loop output circuit, it follows that the external Field current will then be constant as well, and the discontinuation of input thermal energy may be effected with the attendant efficiency advantage cited. [ref.: see 'Fundamental Principles' on our 2nd PoC Experiment webpage.]
"The considerable benefit of the electrodynamic field produced by the EDF Generator [with respect to power production] lies in taking double advantage of the electric hysteresis and negative resistance characteristics of high-intensity discharges, in that each half of the external field current is in series with the vacuum chamber current and an extra 'electric leveraging' of these properties is thereby obtained to maximum advantage, i.e., the device's output system can carry a closed-circuit current far in excess of that ordinarily possible under Ohm's Law and do so in a way that allows for a total discontinuation of input thermal energy that would not ordinarily be possible in a technology like this (which is based upon vacuum tube design and operating principles)." [inventor M. Tomion, from a patent office action letter.]
AESI is confident that our prototype 24kW air-cooled StarDrive Generator will during certified testing exhibit a net input COP approaching 200 [or, a 200:1 ratio of net output to net input], and we can now show where the corresponding "net output COP" (the ratio of net output to gross input) is reasonably projected at ~24kW / 0.216kW or 111:1. Such a successful demonstration may soon open up incredible new opportunities for both private and commercial concerns in applications which could never be cost-effectively (or profitably) developed to date.
On that note, another classical Faraday technology that we could well pursue with the 24kW StarDrive Generator is the commercial electrolytic production of hydrogen, for use in fuel cells, and for a very interesting and informative look at this timely issue you may wish to take a look at our Electrolysis Page. For an excellent overview regarding the planned use of large liquid-cooled StarDrive Dynamo units in the commercial desalination or distillation of water, please see our Utility Plant Specs page.
For those interested in learning more about AESI's 24kW EDF Generator prototyping and other product development projects, we are pleased to publish our AESI Business Outlook 2008. Our new "Primary Business Plan" for the EDF Generator Prototype Project, which is now in preparation and contains more detailed information, will also tell how prospective investors may obtain a suitably updated and numbered copy of the AESI Series "B" PPO Memorandum (prospectus). In the interim, investor information is available upon request by writing to Mark R. Tomion, president of AESI, c/o: aesi@stardrivedevice.com.
Successful first firing of the stator circuit of our prototype 24kW EDF Generator's primary power system assembly. Having since achieved specification voltage, current, and input power values in the stator circuit, we are now preparing to fire a large open-air multi-plate "Field simulating capacitor" through which radial plasma discharges, from the assembly's 'armature' to peripheral "pickup" electrodes, will complete the device's output circuit (back to the armature). In practice, of course, the clear-walled vacuum chamber will be replaced by a simple 10-piece ceramic and nickel housing (described on our 2nd PoC Experiment page) which resembles the classic flying saucer hull configuration seen above.
We've finally assembled a second and definitive proof-of-concept experimental setup that uses all production-spec materials and components, and our Δ 2nd PoC Report webpage on the testing of this prototype EDF Generator primary power system in a custom-built argon/vacuum chamber now includes technical disclosure which we feel is sufficient to clearly establish a solid foundation of analytical and empirical proof-of-concept . . . We also hope to have some exciting news about sponsorship funding for the Archer Energy Systems, Inc. 24kW Prototype Project very soon . . .!
Qualified U.S. organizations that would like permission to assemble a prototype EDF Generator or further technical data about the technology are welcome to contact our business office using the e-mail link below, or by phone during normal business hours [9 am to 5 pm (EST), Mon. Fri.].

<> Whether or not you (our good visitors) acknowledge humanity's dire need to develop an advanced new electric power generation technology which obviates any continued dependence on nonrenewable hydrocarbons, and soon, one might take a few moments to review and contemplate the broad, clear, and quite shocking picture of the inarguably catastrophic energy crisis we soon face (at the end of the "Oil Age") that is provided in Matt Savinar's awesome Life After the Oil Crash website: be forewarned, though, it's not pretty . . . Any American who has not read this material may be terribly unprepared for the Time of Troubles to come . . .
And from another source: Most experts agree that there is between 990 billion and 1.1 trillion barrels of accessible crude petroleum oil left on the planet; the BP World Energy Review 2002 puts the number at 1.05 trillion barrels. At the present rate of consumption, 24 billion barrels per year, the world will run out of oil by 2043. However, if the demand for crude oil continues to increase at the same rate it has in the past, the world's oil supply may be depleted as soon as 2020. [ref.: www.biotour.org/fossilfuels.html]
One might also stop to consider the following:
according to an excellent article in the New York Times ["As Earth Warms, the Hottest Issue is Energy", by Kenneth Chang; dated 11/04/03], the world's total energy use is currently about 12 trillion joules per second the equivalent of lighting around 120 billion 100-watt bulbs and 85 percent of that comes from fossil fuels. About 64% of the world's electricity is generated with fossil fuels.
Regarding greenhouse gases and global warming: a recent article published in The Independent (UK, 4/19/06), "Scientists condemn U.S. as emissions of greenhouse gases hit record level", reveals that '... U.S. emissions have risen by 15.8 per cent from 1990 to 2004, mainly due to increased consumption of electricity generated by burning fossil fuel... and a rise in petrol consumption'... Some British scientists have maintained that this shows how America is sadly failing to take a leadership position in the UN's formal international efforts to curb greenhouse gas emissions, despite being the worst offender; see: www.zpenergy.com/modules . . . article&sid=1864. The U.S. accounts for about a quarter of the total global emissions of man-made carbon dioxide and the other greenhouse gases.
